How am I doing?
I met with my mentor, Bryan, at El Camino High School around 12:00PM. We were at El Camino because he was the director working on the "Every 15 Minutes Video", which is an educational video about teenagers and drunk driving. I was introduced to his crew, which consists of a cameraman and a boom operator. Both were able to switch roles at any given time. He taught the basics of the camera and microphone equipment and the settings he uses. One of my tasks was to compile images of the students in the film for later editing.
After filming at school, we went to film at one of the student's house to get the "party" scene. He showed me the different techniques to get certain angles and how to set up a scene to get it close to reality as possible. Once filming was done at the house, we went back to school to shoot the "accident" scene. We waited later in the day to shoot the scene to get a mellow and darker shot to evoke emotion.

How am I doing?
I left a few messages on some local video companies. I got a call a few days later and was able to get in contact with the owner of KM2 Communications, Bryan Kingston. He agreed to be my mentor and we plan to meet up at school. It turns out his company produces the “Every 15 Minutes” video for the school district and city. I will be able to watch the field work and get started on my mentoring hours. My biggest concern would be trying to balance my schedule with extracurricular activities, school, and the project hours.
